Our pastors must address the meaning of life with our youth.
David Shapiro discusses many alternatives including returning with a new Christian narrative about the meaning of life. He argues “that a Christian narrative of meaning must be easy to understand, clear in explanation, and widely spread via communication networks.”
I found two Christian books on counteracting Nihilism and Postmodernism; “The Age of Nihilism,” and “A Toxic New Religion.”
“A Toxic New Religion,” by Scott Allen, 2020, goes into detail concerning post-modernism.
My point is this. Our Evangelical pastors must read these two books to understand where the minds of our Millennial and Gen Z youth are. This is for the purpose of bringing back Millennial and Gen Z prodigals and preventing prodigals in the Gen Z generation.
Our pastors cannot just proclaim, “Come to Jesus.” They must address the lies of nihilism and postmodernism, so they can show why a relationship with Jesus Christ and a membership in his church can provide meaning and hope for the future that we are facing. Again, I have said repeatedly, we must provide a Christian apologetic against all society lies, including nihilism and postmodernism.
Remember, nihilism by Nietzsche says, “there is no truth and therefore no meaning.” IF we can address nihilism and postmodernism effectively, I am confident that we can bring many NONES and prodigals back into the kingdom. But we need to use the two books above to help us communicate the gospel in light of these hopeless philosophies.
The problem is that we do not have an effective message against the lies of our culture. This is also why we must have a biblical apologetic against trans-humanism, trans-gender, homosexuality, pedophilia, woke ideology and FOR parental rights over our children. Some of the books I link to, are by Christians and some are by scholars or people with inside knowledge.
We Evangelicals have two excellent books above that every Evangelical pastor can buy, so they can understand how to effectively speak to the younger generations. This is especially important for youth pastors and pastors of college age and up to 40 years old. This is where the NONES prodigals are mostly located.
David Shapiro argues that we must assertively reject nihilism and postmodernism. Again, we have the need for COURAGE to stand against the lies of the culture. But our Evangelical church pastors are not doing this. This is the crisis of Evangelical Christianity.
