Finding Meaning in Our Lives

People find meaning in life in different ways, depending on their experiences, values, beliefs, and what they care about most. Here are some of the most common sources of meaning:

1. Relationships and Connection

A passionate volunteer teaching children in a sunny classroom or helping distribute food at a community shelter. The image should convey a sense of purpose, joy, and human dignity. Medium depth of field, soft colors, candid natural expressions.

Many people find purpose through love, friendship, family, or community. Feeling connected, being seen, and caring for others can give life deep emotional significance. What is so tragic is the feminist lie that raising children is hindering the happiness of a woman, when raising children gives great meaning and value to a woman's life. Feminist women are told to reject raising children and hate men. Is it any wonder that they are depressed and have no purpose in life and 50% are living on anti-depression medication?

2. Work and Contribution

Doing meaningful work or contributing something valuable to others (through a job, a passion project, or volunteering) helps people feel they’re part of something bigger than themselves. Helping your church with feeding the poor, or teaching children during the summer can give great meaning. When the upcoming Artificial Intelligence {AI] begins to take many jobs, many workers who receive great meaning from their work will be very depressed and see no purpose for living. This is the crisis that is coming soon.

3. Spiritual Beliefs

Some find purpose through exercising their spiritual beliefs through doing work for a greater spiritual purpose. They also find satisfaction from working toward a giant project much greater than what they can do as an individual. For the Christian, doing everything for the glory of God, provides meaning and purpose during the highs and lows of life. If we do not have a biblical world view, it is very hard to see a purpose in life. Dr. George Barna has determined that a lack of a biblical world view is the most important reason that people see no reason to keep living.

4. Passion and Curiosity

Pursuing what excites you — and brings joy and a sense of engagement that makes life feel worth living. My personal passion is research and writing about topics of interest to me. I can spend 8 hours at the computer, and it seems as if it is only one hour.

5. Facing Suffering

People often grow through pain, loss of a loved one, or financial adversity — finding strength, compassion, or a deeper understanding of life. Many elderly people who suffer through cancer treatments learn to develop a stronger sense of purpose and find what is really the most important. No one likes to suffer, but often it is not all in vain. The states with the most concerns about the purpose of life are from Hawaii [Lahaina Fire], Miss [cancer row], California [wild fires], N. Carolina and Georgia [hurricanes]. When tragedy strikes, we tend to ask the important questions about the purpose for our lives.

6. Impacting the long-term future

Some focus on what they’ll leave behind — whether it’s raising children, creating something lasting, or helping others in a way that echoes beyond their own life. Dr. Jordan Petersen says the reason so many people lack meaning is because they do not want to take responsibility for their own lives and the lives of others, such as raising children. Research has shown that if a child does not have a father to help a child to find their purpose in life, to find a good career for them, they will suffer great distress and anxiety. The involvement of the father is the key to a child's future. Fatherlessness does terrible damage to a boy, leading to prison, dropping out of school, drugs, and so many other problems. However, the family courts usually give the custody of the children to the mother, and the fathers are put at a great disadvantage. Some vindictive mothers keep the children away from the father resulting in great damage to the child.

If you go to Google Trends, and type in a phrase, you will find that many phrases are in the 50 to 60 range of number of searches. However, finding meaning in life is in the 90 to 100 range of number of searches. People who cannot find a purpose for living are the ones who commit suicide. This is why it is so important to have a biblical world view of God, ourselves, our society, and the church. Our society is telling our youth that there is no purpose for life, just nihilism and hopelessness.

Do you ever think about what brings you meaning? Or are you exploring different perspectives right now? My website deals with the many reasons why our youth are getting depressed and hopeless. Please continue to explore my website.

HISTORY IS ABOUT TO REPEAT ITSELF

America will celebrate our 250th Anniversary in 2026. However, our nation is in great danger of not going beyond 2032. While I am a great supporter of Donald Trump, and his “Golden Age,” we must not forget to review our history.
