Pastors are afraid to engage with the culture for some of these reasons:
Fear of Controversy and Backlash: Many pastors worry that addressing cultural issues like gender ideology, socialism, and moral decay will create division within their congregations or invite public criticism.
Pressure to Maintain Church Growth: Some churches prioritize attendance numbers over bold preaching. Pastors fear that tackling controversial topics will drive people away, leading to financial struggles or declining influence.
Lack of Courage and Conviction: My book suggests that many pastors have lost the courage to stand firmly against cultural evils. Without a strong biblical foundation and spiritual boldness, they hesitate to confront pressing moral and societal issues.
Influence of Secular Thought: Even within Evangelical circles, some church leaders adopt secular perspectives [social justice] to remain "relevant." This leads them to avoid topics that conflict with “progressive” cultural narratives.
Absence of Biblical Training for Cultural Engagement: Many seminaries and pastoral training programs do not equip leaders to handle cultural battles. As a result, pastors feel unprepared to speak with authority on these matters.
Government and Institutional Pressure: Some pastors fear legal consequences, media attacks, or institutional backlash if they take a stand against politically sensitive issues.

Ben Dunson clarifies why it is important for a pastor to preach on important moral and political issues.

Over the last 8 years the radical Democrats have been calling Donald Trump a liar, a narcissist, a propagandizer, and a dozen other epithets. They are claiming that Donald Trump is an expert at converting his followers into a cult, by propagandizing them.

In this book I am attempting to explain WHY this conflict over cultural issues is occurring and to bring about UNITY within the church, once we understand what is happening.
The separation of church and state has become an excuse for pastors to avoid discussing politics, allowing certain ideologies to take control in various areas of society.
Our pastors have allowed the idea of "tolerance"—accepting all false ideas as virtues—to persist in the minds of our church youth, without pushing back from the pulpit.
