AMERICA'S YOUTH CRISIS:THE EVANGELICAL ANSWER

Since Covid-19, America’s youth are facing an unprecedented crisis of despair, depression, and spiritual emptiness. Influenced by secular education, social media, and a culture that rejects biblical truth, many young people feel lost and hopeless. This book exposes dozens of root causes of this mental health crisis outside of the traditional secular psychology literature, including the failure of the church to engage effectively with the younger generations. While abuse, bullying, fatherlessness, cell phones and many other factors play an important role in depression, there are dozens of other influences that psychology does not address. This book is mostly about the dozens of other bad influences upon our youth. It also addresses the many reasons why our pastors have lost their courage to address the controversial cultural issues of today. The Evangelical church pastors and church members can help address many of these other important issues not addressed by the psychology profession. This book is also for our cultural and political allies in the MAGA movement, Turning Point USA, the Southern Baptist Convention, other Evangelical churches, and all parents and grandparents of prodigal children and grandchildren. The mental health profession is warning of an increase of mental health issues.

The Evangelical church can no longer sit on the sidelines, while our lost youth crash in despair and suicide. The Evangelical church can be an important part of the solution to this crisis and should be able to see that the field is white unto harvest. Our youth are desperate for answers. But the Evangelical church will need to learn how to communicate to our Millennials and Gen Zs and our upcoming grade school generation. Teaching a biblical worldview must begin in grade TWO according to Dr. George Barna. Larry G. DeYoung argues that evangelical leaders, pastors, and parents must wake up to the reality of this growing crisis. He presents a bold call to action—challenging the church to reclaim its role in shaping young minds with a biblical worldview, exposing the cultural lies, and dramatically changing the poisonous food diet being fed to our children to make them sick and in mental distress. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is our ally to help clean up the horrible diets of our children, which are making 50% of them sick, physically and mentally. Many of our youth are depressed simply because of all the junk food they eat every day, which attacks the mitochondria in their young brains. By addressing these controversial topics with courage, discipling children from an early age, and fostering a revival of faith, the church can offer real hope to America’s struggling youth inside the church and outside of the church. With insights drawn from cultural analysis, biblical wisdom, and real-world examples, "The Youth Mental Health Crisis: Our Evangelical Church Opportunity" is a must-read for anyone concerned about anyone under 35 years old. It provides practical solutions for parents, pastors, and church leaders to rise up and act before it’s too late. The next five years could be a great revival among our churches and youth, or America will crash and burn. While upcoming political reforms are very important, in the end the Evangelical church is the spiritual antidote to that mental health crisis ahead. The decision to rescue our youth rests on the shoulders of Evangelical pastors and their church members. No one else can do it. It is time for all Evangelical pastors and men to step forward and take on this incredible challenge. This is probably the largest challenge the Evangelical church has ever faced. The goal is to publish this book sometime in the Fall of 2025. Until that time please continue to read my blog as I publish sections of the book each week. My blog will be at this book website and at www.larrythepatriot.com website. Please share my websites with your friends and pastors. There is hope for our youth when the Evangelical church engages our youth in courage and with biblical truth. Larry De Young

If you have prodigal children or grandchildren who have drifted away from God, the book highlights that a key reason is the lack of a strong biblical foundation and worldview in their upbringing. Many churches have failed to equip young people with apologetics and spiritual resilience, leaving them vulnerable to secular ideologies, social media influence, and a culture that promotes nihilism and self-doubt. The modern church often avoids addressing controversial issues, leading young people to seek answers elsewhere. However, there is hope—by reigniting a courageous, truth-driven faith within families and churches, we can guide prodigal children back to God through love, biblical teaching, and a supportive community .

Many young people today are deeply depressed about their future due to a combination of cultural, spiritual, and psychological factors. The book highlights that the rise of secularism, the absence of a biblical worldview, and constant exposure to negative media narratives have created a sense of hopelessness. Social media, academic pressure, and the uncertainty of the job market further intensify their anxiety. Additionally, poor nutrition, excessive screen time, and a lack of meaningful relationships contribute to their emotional distress. However, there is hope—by addressing these issues through faith, strong community support, and biblical truth, young people can find purpose, courage, and a renewed sense of hope for the future .

In recent years, there has been a notable shift among young voters, with many supporting progressive policies and candidates like Kamala Harris. Advocacy groups such as Voters of Tomorrow have been instrumental in promoting political engagement among Generation Z, emphasizing issues like climate change, healthcare, and economic equality.   While some young voters view socialism as a pathway to address systemic inequalities and ensure a more equitable future, others remain skeptical, reflecting the diverse perspectives within this demographic. The political leanings of young voters are influenced by various factors, including economic conditions, social justice movements, and the evolving political landscape. It’s essential to recognize that while some young individuals may advocate for socialist ideals, the broader youth electorate encompasses a wide range of political beliefs and aspirations.

Many evangelical church members have observed that their pastors lack the courage to address controversial topics. According to the book, this fear stems from various factors, including concerns about losing financial support, fear of division within the congregation, and the influence of progressive ideologies that discourage political and cultural engagement. The book argues that many pastors have retreated into safe, non-confrontational preaching, avoiding discussions on critical issues like gender ideology, secularism, and moral decay. This silence has weakened the church’s ability to guide young people, leaving them vulnerable to cultural narratives that contradict biblical teachings. However, history shows that true revival and societal impact come when church leaders boldly stand for biblical truth, despite opposition .

Fatherless Children Are Being Destroyed

By: Larry De Young

One-third of the children of America do not live in a home with their fathers. Fatherless children have resulted in a total failure of our society. Throughout this book we will see how the father in the family has been under attack. This is one major reason why so many of our youth are suicidal and hopeless. There is no father in their life. There is no father available to lead the children so they can face the future.
